Which Blinds are Suitable in Traditional Properties?

For property owners, it can be rather tricky sometimes deciding how best to decorate windows, and with many modern styles now available, there certainly is plenty to choose from. But for those of you who own traditional properties, you may want to choose soft furnishings that enhance and preserve their original features, and there are particular blind styles that do exactly this.

So, the team here at Angel Blinds and Shutters have come up with some different styles that can complement your traditional property’s windows, whether it’s bay windows from the Victorian era, or side sash Edwardian-style windows.

Warming Roman Blinds

Available in a variety of textures, colours and patterns, the Roman blind offers a thicker fabric that can insulate your rooms, keeping any draughts at bay. If your windows haven’t been replaced and are the original windows installed when the house was built, they will probably be rather drafty and chilly. A Roman blind, when extended the length of the window, will help retain the heat in the room.

Lighter than drapery, but with the same textured appeal, Roman blinds can completely block out the light when pulled down, and let natural light flow through the room when pulled back into neat, pleated folds.

Organic Wooden Blinds

To achieve a vintage look and feel, consider investing in a rustic pair of durable wooden blinds. Larger slats invoke a more traditional interior feel, creating a similar appearance to shutters, and can block considerable amounts of light out of your chosen room. Tilting the slats slightly allows you to enjoy your own privacy while still benefiting from the views outside.

So, if you want to achieve an organic and natural interior in your traditional property, then our beautiful wooden blinds  could be the perfect option for you.

Have you considered shutters?

Window shutters work well with any existing architectural features, so are therefore a great option for traditional properties. The slats can be opened, closed or tilted to let light into the room, and can also increase the security of your property. This is ideal if you have rather out-of-date windows that don’t offer the same levels of security as modern day windows.

Shutters don’t just have be either wooden or PVC; they are available in a whole array of colours to suit any taste and interior design. You could also opt for external shutters for your house, to create a seamless appearance, improving the aesthetics of your property.
